About Skinory
Where the numbers on this site come from and how they are calculated.
Where the data comes from
The item catalogue is built on the open CSGO-API dataset. Prices come from the public APIs of third-party markets and the Steam Community Market, and they refresh roughly once an hour. We pull each feed directly and keep our own copy, so the price history stays here even if a market wipes it at their end.
How we work it out
The price we show
The best buy price across every market we are connected to, rather than a market-wide average. An average would iron out the very thing people come here for — the gap between one market and the next.
Price chart
The recent part is live market prices, one point every 30 minutes. Older history comes from Steam sales, scaled to meet the market level at the point where the two series join: the chart shows how the price moved, not what items actually cost back then.
Market cap
The value of everything currently listed, multiplied by a supply factor. Valve does not publish how many items exist, so nobody knows the real number — we call this an estimate because that is exactly what it is.
The terms and formulas are broken down in more detail here: Glossary · Full methodology and data freshness
Who runs the site
Skinory is built and maintained by an independent team of CS2 enthusiasts. No legal entity is registered and no commercial activity is carried out on the site.
Editorial rules
- Pages for items, collections, cases and lists are generated from data: every number in their text comes from the catalogue or the price feeds at the moment the page is rendered.
- Hand-written guides say where their facts come from and show the date of their last update.
- We do not present unofficial numbers as odds: drop pool percentages are labelled as community estimates, because Valve publishes none for the weekly drop.
- Found a mistake? Write to the address below: we check the report against the source and correct the page.
Sources we rely on
- CSGO-API — the item catalogue: skins, collections, cases and rarities
- Steam Community Market — Steam prices and sales history for charts
- 14 markets with prices — current buy offers, refreshed about once an hour
- SkinSniper — weekly drop pool contents
- Steam Community Guide — drop pool history and discontinued cases
- Liquipedia — dates of Majors on price charts
- Counter-Strike Wiki — dates of operations and game updates
What we do not do
Skinory is not a marketplace: we do not sell or buy items, we do not handle trades, and we do not take payments or deposits. Buy links lead to third-party market websites, and we are not responsible for how they operate or for their terms.
The information here is for reference only and does not constitute investment advice. Prices are volatile and the data comes from external sources — we do not guarantee that it is complete or up to date.
