Questions about the CS2 market data
What is the Skinory CS2 Index?
A daily CS2 price index, starting at 100 for each category. Each step uses the weighted mean of price ratios for the same items in consecutive snapshots; weights are the previous snapshot’s price × listed quantity. Skinport and Market.CSGO supply median sale prices where available, otherwise lowest asking prices. Extreme price changes are excluded. Category indexes use the same method.
How is the CS2 market cap estimated?
An analytical estimate by Skinory.io: observed listed value multiplied by an assumed supply coefficient. Skinport is the primary source; Market.CSGO is used only for names without a Skinport price. This is not a measured total value of all existing items.
Where do the prices come from?
From the public price feeds and item pages of 43 marketplaces and from the Steam Community Market. Prices are seller asking prices, not completed sales; Steam sales history is used separately for movers, deals and price context.
How often is the data updated?
Marketplace feeds refresh about every 30 minutes, marketplace pages every 12 hours, the index once a day after the snapshot, movers hourly. Each block on this page shows the time of its own data.
Are the arbitrage pairs guaranteed profit?
No. A pair shows a cheaper listing on one marketplace than the recent sales on another after known fees. The item may sell out, the buyer may not get the same wear and pattern, withdrawal costs and holds differ by marketplace, and the gap may close before the trade. Treat it as a lead to verify.
Can I use these numbers in my own project?
Skinory’s own derived indexes and analytical estimates are available under CC BY 4.0: credit Skinory and link to the source with its snapshot date. Underlying marketplace prices and price histories remain subject to the original sources’ rights and terms; access through the free JSON API does not relicense those data.
