Where does this list of TF2 servers come from?
From the Steam master server: every three minutes we pull every TF2 server that has players, with player counts, map and tags. The type is worked out from the server name and tags.
What kinds of TF2 servers are there?
We sort servers into 20 modes; the busiest right now are Capture the Flag, Trading, Idle and achievements, Other, Mann vs. Machine. Every mode has its own page with the full list and the top by players.
How do I join a TF2 server?
Press Connect — Steam launches Team Fortress 2 and joins the server. You can also open the console (~) in the game and type connect ip:port.
How fresh are the player counts?
The list refreshes every three minutes and the page pulls new numbers once a minute. For servers with players we keep 14 days of player history.
